The Rondy
Step into the heart of the Last Frontier’s oldest winter festival. Since 1935, Fur Rondy has been the ultimate celebration of Alaskan spirit, bringing together the community through outhouse races, snow sculptures, and the world-renowned Iditarod. It is a time when Anchorage transforms into a hub of high-energy competition and winter traditions. From the fierce rivalry of the sled dog sprint to the communal warmth of historical rituals, this trip offers an authentic immersion into the wild, wonderful soul of the North during its most iconic season.
The Itinerary
Day 1 — Wednesday, March 3
- Arrive in snowy Anchorage. Settle into the winter atmosphere and meet your crew for a welcome dinner downtown.
Day 2 — Thursday, March 4
- Explore the frost-covered city. Visit local craft markets and watch snow carvers begin their intricate masterpieces.
Day 3 — Friday, March 5
- Dive into the Rondy carnival and witness the World Championship Sled Dog Sprints in the heart of the city.
Day 4 — Saturday, March 6
- Experience the Iditarod ceremonial start in downtown Anchorage. Witness the pageantry of the mushers and dogs.
Day 5 — Sunday, March 7
- Fur Rondy finale. Subject to weather and logistics, we may travel to Willow for the Iditarod restart.
Day 6 — Monday, March 8
- One final Alaskan breakfast before departing. Carry the spirit of the Great North back home with you.

The Particulars
Small-group travel: Limited to 14 explorers to ensure localized access to Anchorage's best festival viewing.

The trip is currently scheduled for MARCH 3–8, 2027. These are working dates meant to align with the Fur Rondy finale and the Iditarod ceremonial start.
Will we see the Iditarod?
We plan to be in downtown Anchorage for the ceremonial start on March 6. Attendance at the Sunday restart in Willow is subject to weather and logistics.
Will we see the Running of the Reindeer?
The Running of the Reindeer is typically a Fur Rondy staple. While we plan to attend, the 2027 schedule is subject to confirmation by festival organizers.
